Author: George Paris Dick (1866–1941)
Biography: George Paris Dick was born on 8 April 1866 in Clifton, the son of army officer George Thomas Dick and his wife Parisina Lavinia Dick. He attended Dulwich College before joining the Middle Temple and being called to the bar. In the 1890s, he was sent out as an advocate in the Indian Courts at Calcutta and Nagpur. Dick married in 1894 to Effie Geraldine Newman and the couple was childless. Based on his experiences in India, he wrote the novel Fitch and his Fortunes (1898) but it does not appear he wrote any more fiction. He retired in 1930 and died on 27 January 1941 in Ottery St. Mary, Devon.
