Author: Catherine Mary Moncreiff (1825–1919)

Biography: Catherine Mary Moncreiff was born in 1825 in Edinburgh, the daughter of Sir James Wellwood Moncreiff and his wife Ann Robertson. Her father was a prominent figure in Scottish law. In addition, her older brother was lawyer and author James Wellwood Moncreiff and her older sister was novelist Louisa Anne Moncreiff. She never married and lived throughout her life with various members of her family. She wrote just the single novel which succeeded well enough to call for a second edition. She died in 1919.
