Author: Harriet Gabourel (1819–1899)

Biography: Harriet Gabourel was born on 22 October 1819 in St. Helier, the daughter of merchant John Joshua Gabourel and his wife Harriet. She lived the first forty years of her life with her parents in Jersey. After their deaths, she lived with her sisters in Hoddon, Edmonton, and Coventry. In middle age, she wrote two novels, one of which was set in her native Jersey. Gabourel never married and died on 2 May 1899 in Coventry.
