Biography: Louisa Madeline Bonavia Hunt was born in 1852 in Stepney, the daughter of chemical manufacturer Eugene Beauhanais Carless. In 1870, she married clergyman Henry George Bonavia Hunt and the couple had four children. After her marriage, Hunt began writing young adult fiction for Cassell, presumably related to the fact her husband was the editor of Cassell's Magazine. Hunt died on 25 July 1937 in Ealing.
