Biography: Thomas Caulfield Irwin was born on 4 May 1823 in Warrenpoint, Ireland, the son of physician Thomas Irwin. He became a noted journalist and poet publishing in numerous newspapers and magazines including The Nation, Dublin University Magazine, The Shamrock, Tinsley's Magazine, and The Weekly Irish Times. In addition, he published several collections of poetry and one collection of stories. He died on 20 February 1892 at Rathmines.
