Biography: William James Clarke was born on 17 December 1872 in Oxford, the son of William Clarke. His early life cannot be traced. By the turn of the century, he lived in London working as an assistant to the bookseller Hatchard's and author of books under the pseudonym "G. F. Monkshood." He married and had two daughters. He was living in 1921 in south London but his death cannot be traced.
