Author: Fanny Sarah Darnell Ames (1835–1898)

Biography: Fanny Sarah Darnell Ames was born on 2 August 1835 in Aylesbury. Educated at home, she received an indulgent childhood. From a young age, though raised in a strictly protestant household, she felt drawn to the Catholic Church and converted in 1860. A sister followed suit and became a nun. Ames turned her hand to literature beginning with Marion Howard (1868?) and followed with several more. In addition she contributed to Catholic periodicals as well as the Leisure Hour. She spent her later years in Boulogne-sur-mer and she died there in 1898.
