Biography: James Jackson Wray was born on 12 August 1832 in Sancton, the son of Thomas Wray. We attended the Wesleyan Training College before becoming a nonconformist minister. He held positions in Sierra Leone and London, the longest at Whitfield's Congregational Church. In addition to his duties, he was a prolific author sometimes under the pseudonym "Quintus Quarles." In 1854, he married Elizabeth Holmes and the couple had three children. He died on 26 October 1892 in Market Weighton.
