Author: Robert Whelan Boyle (1824–1889)
Biography: Robert Whelan Boyle was born around 1824 in the north of Ireland, the son of Thomas Boyle. He moved to London where he entered the newspaper trade, first as a compositor then as a journalist. In 1877, he became the editor of the London Daily Chronicle. In 1848, he married Charlotte Clark and the couple had several children. In addition to his journalism, he wrote "very good verse" as well as one novel. He died after a brief illness on 13 November 1889 in Holloway.
