Biography: Mary Damant was born about 1850 in Ballymoney, the daughter of David Wilson. She married solicitor Harry Castell Damant and the couple lived on the Isle of Wight where they had several sons. Like her father, she was an ardent antiquarian contributing to periodicals and writing the historical novel Peggy Thornhill (1887). Damant died on 30 October 1921 on the Isle of Wight.
