Author: Catherine Elizabeth Grant
Author: Catherine Elizabeth Grant (1814–1881)
Alternate Name(s): O'Toole (maiden name); Mrs. Forrest Grant (familiar name)
Biography: Catherine Elizabeth Grant was born on 17 November 1814 in Torquay, the daughter of army officer Lorenzo O'Toole and his wife Cecilia (née Westenra). Her father died in 1827 and the family becomes hard to trace. Sometime before 1851, she married army officer Forrest Grant and she may have spent time in India. In the 1870s, she is back in England where she writes three novels. The 1881 census finds her a widow living with her wealthy sister at Sherborne House, Upton upon Severn. She died there on 8 May 1881. Note: the identification is not certain, but highly likely.
