Biography: Jeffery Charles Marston was born in 1857, the son of Surgeon-general Jeffery A. Marston. After attending Wellington College, he joined the army in 1877 and rose in rank to major in the Royal Artillery. As a junior officer, he served in the Afghan War (1879–1880). In 1885, he married Edith M. Eardley-Wilmot. Marston wrote his single novel James Vraille (1890) under the pseudonym "Jeffery C. Jeffery." He died on 4 October 1899.
