Author: George Drago (1809–1862)

Biography: George Drago was born in 1809 in Westminster, the son of boot and shoe-maker Peter Henry Drago and his wife Elizabeth. He joined the East India Company army where he served with the Bombay Artillary for twenty years. While in India, he married Fanny Linstead in 1838 and the couple had at least two children. He wrote the single book, the temperance novel John Hobbs which was published in 1844 in Bombay then later in a new edition in 1862 in England. Drago and his family returned to England in 1851 where he became the headmaster of the Sutcliffe Industrial School in Bath. He died on 20 January 1862 in Walcot.
