Author: Augustus Collingridge (1817–1892)

Biography: Augustus Collingridge was born on 2 April 1817 in London. He went to sea in the merchant service eventually receiving a master's certificate. When on shore, he found time to contribute stories to periodicals as well as publish a few books. He married Araslia Emma Stella Romanetti and the couple had one daughter. By the 1880s, he had retired to the London area. Oddly, in 1888, he was convicted of libel against his landlady and served two months in prison. He died on 30 November 1892 in London.
