Biography: Jane Eliza Perring was born in 1797 in Portsea, the daugher of Richard and Jane Marshall. In 1815, she married newspaper editor and proprietor Robert Perring and the couple had seven children. Her husband operated the newspapers the Leeds Intelligencer and Carlisle Patriot. Relatively late in life, Perring turned her hand to poetry and fiction, contributing verse to her husband's newspapers and writing more than a dozen young adult novels under the name "E. Perring" or just her initials. Her husband died in 1869 and she died in February 1881 in Prescott. Note: author identified in the Routledge publication books.
