Biography: Helen Mary Edith Henderson was born on 4 September 1867 in Calcutta, the daughter of clergyman Robert Henderson and his wife Helen Christina (née Palmer). By 1871, she and her mother had returned to England. Thereafter, her life is difficult to trace. She wrote two novels and a collection of poems in her early twenties, but none made much of a mark. In 1892, she married (as his second wife) Robert Shields Aslachsen, a self-described professor of languages who spent some years in America. The couple had a stillborn son later that year. By 1895, the couple lived in New York. His death cannot be traced, but she died in 1938 in Alton.
