Biography: Dorothea Jones was born in 1828 in Llancynfelin, Wales, the daughter of William Tilsley Jones of Gwynfryn. Her brother was the Bishop of St. Davids. In midlife, she wrote two popular fictional works featuring animals, Friends in Fur and Feathers (1869) and The Otter's Story (1880), under the pseudonym "Gwynfryn" (the name of their family house). She never married and died on 20 March 1885 in Carmarthen.
