Author: George Frederick Lewis Bampfield (1827–1900)
Biography: George Frederick Lewis Bampfield was born on 11 June 1827 in London, the son of surgeon Robert Westcote Bampfield. He attended Tonbridge School and Lincoln College, Oxford where he earned a B.A. (1849). He entered the church and became an assistant schoolmaster. In 1865 he converted to Roman Catholicism and was ordained a priest. He then became a schoolmaster in Barnet. Bampfield wrote a collection of stories and a collection of poems. He never married and died on 20 January 1900 in Barnet.
