Author: James Monteath Macculloch (1841–1899)

Alternate Name(s): Richard Rollingstone (pseudonym); James Saint-Blaine (pseudonym)

Biography: James Monteath Macculloch was born on 14 March 1841 in Falkirk, the son of a teacher and journalist. As a youth, he worked in a Stirling bookshop before entering the publishing trade in Edinburgh, Glasgow, and later London. Under the pseudonyms "James Saint-Blane" and "Jacob Monteath" he became a notable and popular poet. Macculloch wrote the single novel Walter Leslie's "Plunge" (1871) under the pseudonym "Richard Rollingstone." Apparently his identity was well concealed since his pen-names were only revealed close to his death. In 1872, he married Maggie C. Ferguson and the couple had several children. He died in 1899 in Lambeth.
