Author: Annette Calthrop (1847–1916)
Biography: Annette Staines Calthrop was born on 6 January 1847 in Deeping St. Nicholas, Lincolnshire, the daughter of James Thompson Calthrop and his wife Edna Naylor Knowles. She never married and lived with one or more relatives during her life. After her move to London in the 1870s she wrote a novel Myrtle and Cypress (1876). Interestingly, she listed her occupation as "political (tariff reform) worker" in the 1911 census. She died on 13 December 1916 in Shaftesbury.
