Biography: Sophia Alice Fawcett was born in 1843 in Carlisle, the daughter of solicitor John Fawcett and his wife Sarah Grace. She lived her entire life with her parents in Carlisle. Under the pseudonym "George Fawcett," she penned the single novel Blue Eyes or Brown? (1878). Her obituary called it a "clever and interesting novel" saying that it was "an open secret at the time of its appearance" that Fawcett wrote it. She died on 1 May 1890 in Carlisle.
