Author: Mary W. Paxton

Author: Mary W. Paxton (1847–1900)

Biography: Mary Wilson Paxton was born in 1847 in Kirriemuir, the daughter of Free Church minister John D. Paxton and his wife Isabella (née Black). She never married and lived with her sisters her whole life. Though her sisters worked as teachers, it does not appear that Paxton taught. At least one of her novels features a school—presumably drawn from her sisters' experiences. She never married and died in 1900 in Partick.
