Biography: Jane Overend was born on 23 March 1814 in Cupar, the daughter of Thomas Horsbrugh and Janet Makgill. Her early life cannot be traced. In 1869, she married banker George Gee Campbell Overend. During her married life, she wrote and translated fiction, sometimes assisted by her husband. Overend died in 1878 in Edinburgh.
